Official: Red Bull F1 confirms Daniel Ricciardo’s return

McLaren revealed the secret at the end of summer. After the 2022 Formula 1 season, Daniel Ricciardo would be no longer a driver with the Woking team. With almost all of the seats occupied, it was difficult for him not to continue on the grid for 2023.

The Australian veteran was not going to give up and search for a solution. He admitted that he would likely have to leave the circuits after he had completely ruled out any other category or discipline.

His name started to be used by many teams, including McLaren Alpine, Red Bull and Red Bull; three structures for which Ricciardo was already providing his services. Mercedes was also interested.

Recent rumors had pointed to the Austrian structure. Helmut Marko inadvertently hinted at the possibility of them reaching an agreement. Ricciardo explained that Red Bull was his best choice, even before teams that could offer him an opening seat.

Motorsport.com’s announcement of Ricciardo returning to Red Bull is now confirmed. He has his sights set on 2024, the year Sergio Perez finishes his contract. This season could be a great opportunity for Ricciardo, both in Red Bull and other teams.

Between 2014 and 2018, Daniel Ricciardo drove for Red Bull between the 2014-2018 seasons. He achieved seven of his eight top flight victories as well as many other podium finishes, and two bronze medals as a constructor.

The Australian driver will play a crucial role in the commercial side of the simulation and track testing activities.

Ricciardo was thrilled to confirm the agreement: “The smile speaks for itself, I’m really excited to go home with Red Bull in 2023 as the third driver.”

“I have fond memories of my time here. But the warm welcome Christian and Dr. Marko gave me is something I really appreciate.”

“For me, the chance to participate and be surrounded with the best Formula 1 team is very appealing, while also giving me the chance to recharge my batteries.”

“I cannot wait to help the team with the simulator work, test session and commercial activities. Let’s go!”

Christian Horner, team principal, also admitted that he was happy to have one the most talented talents in Milton Keynes back. He is a gifted and brilliant person. The entire factory would be thrilled to have you back.

Daniel, as third driver and tester, will allow us to diversify. He will help us develop the car and provide all the knowledge and experience we need to succeed in this category.

The energy drink manager concluded that they were happy to have worked with Daniel once again and looked forward to 2023.
